Hi. I'm at the public/school library at a meeting, the dude is running late so I thought I'd shove a few mars on here.

The seeing was rather poor when I got these: 4/10 but the trans. excellent! Looked really good on the laptop.

Got myself 4 AVi's.

1/25th sec @ 10 FPS 140 odd stacked. The other 2 AVs I took @ 15 FPS which came out pretty good too.

6" refractor & toucam.

I tried for venus earlier in the day (6pm) but it's getting really tricky to get: too close to the sun & having a laptop outside in broad daylight is no fun....Can't see the screen properly, so that's it for venus from me.

Tried for Saturn but by then the seeing had turned to utter chaos! I'll give it a 1 outa 10.

Did'nt even bother for jupiter.

Hi Asi, there's a heap of fine detail on this one  , really excellent given the size and seeing. I'm wondering how small it can get and still pull some detail... I think I've only got another month before it dips below the western trees (take up 50deg) at nightfall...cheers,

I dare say you'll get to image it longer than me Rob_T. Because of my aperture (6") & still show detail, but one never knows.

To train the 12" newt on mars is impossible from where it's setup (buildings in the way) even if it was up & running.

Thanks guys! BTW this broadband @ the library is GREAT!!

Well, before I delete these mars AVI's I thought I'd better apply the Rob-T's idea of "wringing the hell outa the AVI to get more detail trick"

I don't think these are much better but it was worth a shot! ;)

I think I've re-processed 8 or 9 times now to milk 'em for all their worth...nothing but rotten weather here so there's nothing to do astro-wize apart from reprocess & recollimate scopes! :confuse2:  :) I'm going nuts so now I'm bolting the toucam to my bino's for some Afocal work for something to do lol.

nice one!

you can go back to observing during the week wen your eyepieces arrive!

I cut my teeth on mars, and i really want to try the powermate 5x on it, but the seeing has been so bad for so long!

Yeah, shocking weather lately hey!? Even when there's no clouds the seeing is bound to make a mess out of things! :mad2:

Suck that Planet dry until it's gone from our skies Asi! Seems everyone else has given up on Mars. Don't blame them though, it's getting awful small and smudgy nowadays!

Great pics of our disappearing red friend.
