I have owned an LX200GPS for a while now and have just added a sun filter. I want to track the sun and found that I can add and Asteroid file into the handset to use as a trackable object for the Sun... That part is all done. However how the heck do you find things fast on and Autostar 2 handset without scrolling through 800 objects in the Asteroid listing on the handset. Or do I have to clear all the objects and just add the sun, then put them all back again when I need them? That takes a while also.. I wish thier was a search function in the handset... Or have I got it all wrong?

Most people choose to replace pluto with the sun (which needs the handbox patched), which makes it much easier to find (only needs to scroll through a few objects under "planets").
Looks at this page for Dick Seymour's Patches, one of which can replace Pluto with the sun.

Go right down to the bottom for the latest patch. You can turn on/off most options of the patches as you like.
Lot of extra info here:
Check out Mike Weasner's ETX site, specifically the pages on Autostar

Gday Martin
If you added the sun as asteroid via the hbx
when you enter the asteroids screen, just scroll UP
and it wraps to the bottom element ( ie the new one  )
Another "trick" to reset or position the indexes into long lists is to use the NGC screen.
If you know the record number you want ( ie zero in this case ready for a scroll up ), just go NGC ( hotkey 9 ) and enter 1 and enter then mode out.
That has reset set the generic record counter to 1
Now go to the asterids screen and it will be on record 1
Just scroll UP and yr on the last record.
Easy peasy and no patch reqd.
