Hi everyone:hi:,

Just wondering if there is a relatively low cost astronomy chart book out there?

Bintel sell the sky atlas deluxe for $100:eyepop:.i could get a new ep with that money. One similar to the sky atlas would be good.

thanks in advance

Hi Orestis,

Have a look at Rob's link. http:////sites.google.com/site/southernastronomer/ (http://sites.google.com/site/southernastronomer/) It has some great maps. I printed them all out and put them into plastic sleeves inside a ring binder folder.
I have The Sky Atlas 2000 as seen on the Bintel Site ($79), which were generously given to me (laminated) and they are fantastic maps. The book version for $100 looks even better as it has the plastic overlay to write on. Christmas is around the corner?! :D;)

Hi Orestis.

http://www.geocities.jp/toshimi_taki/atlas_85/atlas_85.htm

This is the Taki's 8.5 Magnitude Star Atlas, it has a good format star charts set and shows more than 80,000 stars and 2900 DSOs. You can download it in a PDF format, than you can print it. I think it is a fine work.

Stars down to mag 7.6 and very cheap. I got it for $20 posted from the US. Most of my books come from amazon and generally there is around a 50% saving over Australian retailers.

Let me add another vote for the pocket sky atlas - We own a whole bunch of atlases - double stars atlases, sky atlas 200 (field version), iPhone, iPad, computer programs etc ... the pocket sky atlas is probably our most used atlas by far... so much so that it's the only one we own two copies off.

I agree with Andrew and James, Sky and Telescope's Pocket Sky Atlas is a convenient size and inexpensive. It isn't the best atlas to go hunting galaxy clusters with but it's great for more typical usage.

The one I used and have scribbled all over is Sky and Telescopes pocket Atlas. Highly recommended
