Hi,

have used ppmcentre to filter out some of the junk and then stacked with a variety of wavelet settings. I have then used LR and ME deconvolution, unsharp masking and median 3x3 to get some final results.

I am conscious about trying to keep the harshness of the white ring inside the cassini division to a minimum.

Not sure which is best final image, but it should give you newer guys an idea of different processing results

970 frames @ 75% gain, 1/25 exposure 5% gamma, 100% saturation, 50% contrast and brightness.

5x powermate equates to roughly 1041x

Please play with these images to your hearts content

Larger TIFF version of the registax outputs for different wavelet settings are http://precons.com/iis/gallery/Tracking/Planets/Saturn/ to play with. They are about 1mbyte each

are there bits of the enke division in that too??? Wow, nice to see what different processing will do

i do not think so, mike linked me to a site explaining who processing can create artifacts in the rings.

i believe it is possible for me to get, but the seeing would have to 9/10 or 10/10, not 6 or 7 as it was the other night

Great shots i'm still very new to planet imaging but isn't there a thing called the Encke minima which I think is a shadow in that area:confuse3: .

this is why i do not think i have captured it:

quote Iceman in relation to Dennis sharp capture

http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=8129

"The encke division is a very small feature, it hasn't been captured in Dennis's image (as fine as it is).

The image scale needs to be much larger to capture such a small feature. What most people see in amateur images is what has been called "the ghost of encke", which is really a processing artifact from sharpening.

There's a very fine article on it here:

http://www.astro-imaging.de/astro/ghost_of_encke.html"

and here is the best of the season so far from bird, maybe there is hint of it, but i am not sure. we need the bug guns to confirm!

excellent Saturns there DP and presented in a way that highlights the benefits of different processing methods - great stuff:thumbsup:

bugga - guess that means I've been fooling myself that I've got a hint of enke before, ah well I'll just keep my head in the sand and pretend it is :P

thats all right Rob, if you say my encke capture was great, then i will say yours was great too!

nooooo matter what the science says!!!
