Beautiful sequences!

However, for some technical and aesthetic aspects, the bar was raised arguably
even higher than that way back in the 80's and early 90's by cinematographer Ron Fricke.

For example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PirH8PADDgQ&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUEOipHmBjY&feature=related

Particularly memorable were the night-time panning timelapse sequences he shot in the
Arches National Park which appeared in Baraka.

Wheres Fricke was shooting on 70mm emulsion, what's changed today of course is the
advantages of digital.

OH yeah, we have a timelapse project cooking that is a quantum leap over the simple control gear he uses ;), stay tuned.

Mind you, they are nice clips, very smick, the production values are inspiring.

I notice apart from DSLRs, they use Red digital cinema cams, poke around here (http://www.red.com/products/red-one) and see real cam porn, insane product even just to look at :P.

Then have an idle fish around this (http://reduser.net/forum/index.php) forum, and see what movie pros get up too , inside goss, mad projects and the sort of eye watering gear they get to play with.

Very inspirational.

Is it just me or is vimeo very slow to load?

Mike Flores is another doing amazing stuff.

After a while, they all start looking the same, unfortunately.

Vimeo loads HD quality video, which is infinitely better than YouTube quality. That's the reason for the slower load times, I imagine.

That's a nice one too, Thanks H.

And you're right - they do start to look the same. I wonder what the next big thing will be to try and stand out.
