Just a couple of nice shots I found in my photo collection. Taken from my house in melbourne. The lightning shot was the hardest. I proped the camera up on the top of a chair to help prevent vibrations (couldn't find the tripod adaptor) and just kept taking five second shots until finnaly there was lightning in the area I was pointing. The lightning kept striking just after the shots had finnished and before I could start the next one, doesn't it always happen that way  .

BTW. Camera is a 4MP FujiFilm S5500

Nice shots Leon

I never been able to get any shots on lightning.Welldone
If those power lines are a problem I've got a pair of bolt cutters you could use , be good for the environment too , mind you air pollution helps sunset pics .:confuse3:

LOL, yeah I hate the powerlines so I'd love to give them the snip. Better pack my insulating rubber gloves though ;). I find the best way to get lightning is to set up the camera on a tripod and point it in the the direction of the majority of the lightning. Then just keep taking 5 second exposures (Or longer if required) and hope that one will strike while you are doing it. I took about 30 shots just to get the one that I posted. Also if it is wet and windy outside (not a great evironment for a camera) turn off the lights inside and take the pics through a window. Mine was taken through my loungeroom window (Look in the bottom left corner and you can see a reflection of another window that was behind me). Looking back at the images I think I compressed the Venus/Moon shot a little bit too much, also it doesn't quite look as good at 640x480 (Orig. was 4mp).

Yeah, I must say the two sunset shots are my favs. Both are taken from my upstairs back balcony. I get absolutly wonderfull sunset views from up there almost everynight so I am quite spoilt :)
