Just caught the trailer for the new Earth invasion movie 'Skyline'. Looks promising although I don't recognise any names on the cast list.

"Strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth."

Hope it is not another Cloverfield

Cloverfield was good. : P

Watched it on an A380 on the way to Singapore. Not the best movie to watch on a plane. :vomit:

I think Skyline looks like a terrible movie to be honest.

Really, wow H, did you like it??
I thought it nearly made you ... vomit.

Hmm, Ok Shelley, not sounding good, which is sometimes a good way to into a movie. I must google some info on it. :)

I enjoyed it, thoroughly!

The almost vomit was due to the gyroscopic recording and I was on a flight!

I agree with Shelley, though, the movie's going to be an epic fail.

Utter bull. Seriously the worst movie I've ever seen. Great CGI. No story, no character development, no meaning, made no sense at all. Left open in the end probably for a sequel ... ?! Why do they bother. Save your pennies and wait for the DVD if any. In a nutshell you'll know as much about the aliens and what they're doing by watching the trailer... or watching the entire movie. Zip. Nada. :P

Wow! That was weird. All the news segments in the trailer didn't even make it in the actual movie. I guess they had nothing interesting in the movie itself to make a trailer so they added sugar.

To give you an example of how stupid that movie was, the first 5min of the movie pass on with those lights falling off the sky then the director must have realised 'oh wait! we haven't introduced any of the characters!' so backflash 24h before the event introducing the 5, 6'ish characters for a good 10min. Then you link back to now and watch the first 5min again to get into the flow of the story.

There are so many original ideas in the plot. They nuke the ship but it doesn't destroy it (ID4). The aliens drive those exo-skeleton creatures (ID4 again). They have alien ships dogfights with USAF (did I say ID4?) The inside of the ship looks like a Matrix set, the flying creatures are clones of the Matrix sentinels (squiddies) and the walking ones are a rip off of war of the world. I guess they were on a budget and reused a lot of the 3D models?

Oh, and the aliens feed on brains, like the good o'le zombies. Very original again  . The only good thing would be CGI which are very well done but the hero's mate is the guy from scrubs walking around with a hand gun shooting at 5 storey high aliens !? C'mon! :P

I'm not one to bag a movie. Serious. But I thought I'd do a community service and you guys can save $15 or so and go get a good pizza instead.

Marc - you really do need to learn to express yourself in an open and concise manner mate .

Everything Marc has said here about the movie is spot on. Not sure what I hated most about the movie last night, the movie itself or the guy with his 5 ill disciplined kids who didn't shut up through the whole thing.

In the end a night to forget, except for the company she is just wonderful.

Want to know how good it is? There are only 11 torrent download links.

For a new movie that is pretty low, even the pirates arent banking on it to draw a crowd.:screwy:

Would have joined the kids and thrown stuff at the screen ;)

They did save stacks of money on acting for sure :P .
The dialogs are like:

Girl: "I'm pregnant"
Bloke:" I'm not ready for this"
Older bloke:"Look around you! We are at war! Don't you understand?"

I certainly didn't. This s||t is too deep for me. :confused2:

The amount of CGI is going to drive the production right into the ground. The sheer volume of effects is like a starwars movie everywhere you look and I have a feeling they're not going to get their money back.

Sooooooo hot up here, that cant stay in the house. Went and saw 'Harry Potter' yday - good, today saw that 'Skyline' is still on, but after reading the reviews, I may give that one a miss, as nobody liked it.
Heard that Reds is funny??? Wouldnt mind some scifi though.

Any movie which starts out with aliens landing in or attacking New York or LA must be pretty crap, i just hope its not as bad as the Fifth Element.......

multiweb
10-12-2010, 08:35 AM
Oooh... serious? 5th element is one of my favorites of all time. Doesn't even compare to skyline. It actually has characters you remember, fast pace and clever writting.

5TH Element is rated very highly by SciFi buffs. Got it on BluRay, quite cool and realistic culture, that and BladeRunner.
Anyone here enjoy Inception ?
And the new Startrek ?

Both cool in my books ...

Looks like I'll give Skyline a miss .....

The latest startrek is just great. Can't wait to see the 3 over instalments. They've re-juvinated the franchise. Must have seen this movie 10 times or more. Great music and acting.

That Skyline movie was a waste of money and time, I usually love sci-fi movies, but this looked like a cheap monster/horror movie.

Now, I've seen the trailer of Battle:Los Angeles and I think it is going to be a much better movie, will open sometime on March 2011....the theme seems to be the same: alien invasion.

Battle: LA movie trailer here. I have to say, I love the soundtrack.

Hey most sci-fi is good that's the point it's all BS in some way or another just fantasy never try and write too much into it just sit back turn off your brain and enjoy IMHO

Don't know why you'd want to watch Inception more than once to figure out what was going on, dream within dream etc etc.

Really good sci-fi with a good premise and sound science are few and far between

Werd!

Folks, I was REALLY looking forward to this movie. I was first in line on opening night a few weeks ago.

UTTER GARBAGE! Ten million dollars to make it and they spent the whole ten on special effects. No story, bad acting...oh look, I couldn't even be bothered finishing this...
:mad2:

TRON Legacy, you better be good.

Inception is one I'd get on disc and watch again. It was a nicely written story and the end rewinds back to the beginning. The sequence of event and timing was very well done I thought.

What i saw of skyline was not very good.

The ending destroyed it.

No More said.

Dont get me wrong i should of said more.

I enjoyed it to the end but the last 5 seconds of the movie was dismal.
Maybe a sequal is on the horizon or now turn it into a tv series or some thing :confused2: .

Cheers

Finally watched 'Skyline' .... liked it actually. Bit annoying a couple of bits, actors Ok, and movie was a combination of War of the Worlds, Independance Day, TNG - The Borg etc .... still not too bad. Bit scary in parts, and didnt mind the ending .. not the typical 'happy ending' scenario. 7/10 ... with a push ;)

PS ... now about to watch one of the NEW 'V' episodes, yeah.

I was "fortunate" enough to rent this on DVD many years ago, if i had paid to watch it in a cinema i would have asked for my money back.....it was that bad, i'd nearly rate it in the same class as "The Long Kiss Goodnight" lol...............

Liz
08-01-2011, 05:45 PM
:thumbsup:OOh, Chris, I think you need to rewatch ' The Fifth Element' it is a classic.
Ummmmm. i think i liked 'the Long Kiss Goodnight' too .. was the Morgan Freeman?

Didn't see Inception on the big screen but I did just purchased it on BluRay. It had better be a nicely written story..I read that Chris Nolan took 8 years to write the story.
