Hi there.
I work in Newcastle but don't know a lot of the area.
I believe it is on the Pacific Hwy at Mayfield.
I am told that is a bit industrial like area.
It may even be a bit smelly as I hear there is a sulfery smell near there on occassions.
However, I also hear it is booked out regularly so it cant be too bad.
It is not what I would call close to the night life of Newcastle, so it may not be what you want. If you have a car it may be OK.
Watch parking in Newcastle can be expensive, parking police are really HOT.
The night life in Newcastle can be a bit wild in the CBD.
There are regular reports of disorder around 2 to 3 am when night clubs close.
I suggest you google the motel and look for reviews.
When I have to stay in Newcastle I stay at the Executive Inn which is attached to the Newcastle Wests leagues club in New Lambton.
Give us a call when in town if you have any spare time.
Maybe we can do lunch.
