In my thread Observation report for the 30/09/10 http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=66464&page=2
Suzy in reply to a post by RobF suggested that we dig out some of our observation reports from the past.:rolleyes:
I haver decided to get the ball rolling by posting a page out of my old daggy Log Book of my observations of the Shoemaker Levy 9 comet impact strike on the planet Jupiter.
Telescope was my Celestron Ultima 8" SCT.
I did not have the observatory then only a pillar in the ground with a fixed wedge so all I had to do was take the scope outside and plonk it on the mount.
I subsequently did 20 sketches of the impacts in a period 17/07/94 -25/08/94
They are no work of
art but they are real impressions of what I saw:)
The one I have chosen is my favourite as it sketched close to the time the image of the same impact was taken by HST:D
Guess which is Hubble:question::lol:
the picture is taken from the book by Carl Sagan " A PALE BLUE DOT" One of my very favourite books of all time:D
I hope we can get some more "Blasts from the past"
I also hope you enjoy my meager efforts of a very special moment in Astronomical History:thumbsup:
Cheers
