NGC6559 in Ha

Only 6x10min. It was a real bummer because I was getting some nice details inside the bright nebulae parts but the clouds rolled in and cleared at 10:00pm by then it was too low. :P So spades of noise in the dark bits. Still holding ok for 1h though. Hope you like it. Just squint your eyes and the noise will go. ;) :thumbsup:

Nice field there, is the edge abberation a collimation issue do you think..? Or field rotation. I imagine these FARSTARs are a bugger to get just right?

I am expecting the worst in this department when the F3.8 Orion astrograph arives too :rolleyes: :prey:

Hehe... too kind mate. Now you can go rinse your eyes with all that sand you coped in them ;) Yup! Field rotation on 10min subs. I'll never learn. :P Thought I'd get away with it though. I must be waaay off... :question:

Very nice Marc, with that field you could almost fit lagoon into the image as well. It's a busy area which does come alive when you add a bit of OIII to the Ha.

These Ha images you are producing with your rig are fantastic, the Horse was superb and now this superb piece of imaging magnifique.

How are you finding the time to get such great images under the stars:shrug: i don't know but i Like It :)

Thanks Craig. :thumbsup: No I don't use the newt for this. It would take a lot longer to do the same. I use an hyperstar lens that converts my C11 F/10 down to F/2. So you get 11" aperture for approx 500mm FL. 30s on that rig will collect the same a mount of photons that my 5" newt would collect in 15 min. That allows me to collect a lot of subs of various objects in very little time. One of the problem is that the FOV is pretty big so when you expose for 10min if your polar alignment is not reasonably close you'll end up with field rotation centered on the star you use for guiding. Using an hydrogen alpha filter will make things worse as it produces pinpoint stars so there's not enough blurriness to cheat :P Another issue is focus. The CFZ is pretty tiny at F/2. But it's all part of the fun. :)
