Hi everyone:hi:,

I completed a baader solar film filter yesterday and got to try it out today. Many thanks to Rob_K for giving it to me:thumbsup:.

This was my first time ever solar observing and i was amazed to able to see 3 sunspots on its surface.

At 36X i could see surface granulation towards the edge of the sun.On the sunspots i could see the middle of them to be a very dark black and around them the penumbra a grey colour looking like a waterfall falling into a pool of darkness.

At 100x mag i could see even more detail though i preferred the wide Field view.

I also did a sketch(attached) using a hb pencil and an eraser.

Hope you like it,
regards orestis:thumbsup:

Well done Orestis. You've certainly captured the way the penumbra work.

Very nice job Orestis! As we head towards solar maximum there will be so much more to observe (and sketch!).

Cheers -

Cool sketch there mate, not a target we regularly see sketched. I agree, Rob_K is pretty awesome aswell.

Hopefully the increasing solar activity will mean increased heat and sunshine, but this feral year, blah god only knows.

Hope you guys get to observe the sun soon.I can now see how excited Gailileo would have been when he saw his first sunspot.

Great going Orestis
Alas, I'm not confident enough to trust myself with the sun. So keep those wonderful reports and sketches of the sun coming in.
