Got some clear conditions so tried again - not great seeing though. Jupiter image is overprocessed and the varying resolution has unbalanced the colour a bit, but hey, I worked hard to get anything at all out of that data and I wanted to be able to at least see what I got. Clavius through the red filter is OK, but even that is a little soft.
Thanks for looking

Clavius looks great, I was just eyeing it off as a sketching target so you've confirmed my decision now.

Nice shot's Ray.
Clavius looks good.
Jupiter is as you said a bit over done. I don't mind as I know with my own images I am sick of natural looking, noise free images that are just too soft due to average seeing to pull out reasonable detail.
I am starting to hit the processing a bit hard and save the fine touch for the shots that deserve it.

Thanks Michael - enjoy your sketching.

Thanks Clayton - yeah, maybe one day I will get a fine shot and be able to just pull it together without having to dig around with convolution to get past the blur.

Clavius is my favorite crater with all those craterlets and plenty of detail on Jupiter, we are all waiting for good seeing.

John.

Nice job with Clavius Ray and Jupiter is pretty subjective. Go with what you are happy with.

When you get to image Jup in good seeing the processing required to get an excellent image really is quite minimal, until then go with whatever appeals to you.
