Well thats pretty cool, seeing something like that would be a 1 in a million chance. How often do you think that rocks or meteorites hit the moon?

I read about that one ... I think I will stick to observing meteor showers on good ole Terra ... much easier to see !

Bert & I were talking about meteor collisions with the Moon the other day.
During high meteor times, especially Leonids, Taurids etc many many meteors hit the Moon and the chances of capturing a hit is quite possible during these times.

I have often wondered about that, it would be amazing to see a great chunk of
something hit the moon... just enough to be able to watch the impact mind you.

You could always take a few pictures with the same equipment throughout the year and compare the moon to older images and check for new impact sites, using a butterfly tequnique would work well.
Cool story. I wonder what the one in 1999 looked like.

It would look really cool if one hit the dark side. Wouldn't you **** yourself though, just looking up at the moon then "flash"....then comes the running and screaming...."The Martians are coming, the Martians are coming!!!!!!!!"
