Hi all, tonight was the first night without serious cloud cover in over a month. Naturally it came with an almost full moon! But accepting that no work would be done on DSO's I went down the road a bit to the neighbours and came back with the family.

Pre school and grade 3 so no DSO's means not much cause they got to see the Moon and Jupiter and checked out the stars too.

Like the title states... a great 1 hour.

Sometimes an hour sharing what we love is all we need. Nice one Brian.

I hope the recent typhoon didn't disrupt you too much. Very nasty storm that category 5 bugger.

We are okay as we are in the Central Visayas but my wife's trip up to Luzon was cancelled because where she was to hold her workshop is now a disaster area.

Brian, what was their reaction when they saw Jupiter? Or even the moon for that matter? Was is it there first time seeing these? Glad you had a great time and you gave the children some great memories. :)

Hi Suzy, the kids enjoy it. It was only their second time with the scope but they enjoy. The girl in grade 3 tries to make sense of it the young lad in pre school can't get around the thought that some stars are planets.

Their mother and father are becoming quite interested for themselves. Elizabeth left pondering the whether patterns on Jupiter!

We live in a rural community where most of the people have not got indoor plumbing and until 5 years ago no electricity either.

As you may imagine the parents are going through a little culture shock. But they are both intelligent questioning young adults and they are enjoying the journey.
