Hi all

This is about a 2.5hr stack of photos from IISAC2010, complete with car headlights etc.

I thought this looked cool even with the lights :)

The lights are from the Gresford RFB leaving, as well as some people returning (maybe they noticed the clear skies and came back :))

Canon 40D, Sigma 17-70mm lens. Captured as small jpeg. Stacked in startrails.de.

A version without the headlights, as well as a timelapse, are coming soon..

Alright I've added the one without the headlights too.. timelapse soon :)

The combination of the Star trails, dead tree and lights come together quite well to produce an impressive image. Well done

Looking impressive and promising Mike, but I think the headlights damaged it. Looking forward to the dark one.

I also prefer the dark one - it was always my favourite but I thought the one with lights was interesting :)

Darren - you'll see it in the timelapse.

Never been a real fan of startrails but I do like the appearance of the one highlighted in red. The texture of the old stump definitely adds to the image. Well done Mike,... When are you going to get back to the dark side again for real.

In the photos above I used my red/white head lamp to illuminate the stump. Very happy with how it turned out in the end!

Thanks Doug - some day, but not this week or next week :) I would've liked to do a bit more astrophotography at IISAC2010, but the weather conspired against us.

It probably would've been a very frustrating experience anyway, since I'd only just (the night before) finished installing all the programs I needed to do astrophotography on this new laptop.. ImagesPlus, IC Capture, Canon Software etc. All untested.
It probably would've been a nightmare trying to get it all working. Will try soon.

Here's the last of the star trails, an hour or two facing east. I went to check the camera at around midnight and saw Orion rising so I thought I'd stop the previous timelapse and start a new one facing east.

The clouds rolled in at about 2:30/3:00am and that's what the dark patches are in this one.

Great images, Mike!

The tree stump is way cool and is positioned nicely in relation to the SCP.

Cheers,
Alex

Great shot Mike. I am surprised you got any images as where I live it was cloudy all weekend.

Greg.
