Shell galaxies NGC474 and NGC467

Dear all, here I am with a new shoot I took remotely, this time using a rented scope (Lightbuckets LB003).

The subject is a fantastic trio of galaxies in Pisces, NGC474, NGC470 and NGC467. Despite these are objects conveniently placed in the sky (declination is 0 deg) I found very little pictures on line, apart from the wanderful one done by Mischa Schirmer from which I took inspiration.

Yes a great shot of some amazing looking galaxies there Marco, I've seen Mischa's version (he's a friend of Gerd Neumann) and it is also pretty amazing.

There is so much going on in there! One of the more interesting galaxy grouping images I have seen.

Although not quite as complex NGC 1316 in Fornax is a bit similar, I have started on it (http://www.pbase.com/strongmanmike2002/image/128348550/original)some weeks ago....now I just await another night or two to finish it off :rolleyes:.

Thanks all for the nice comments, I am still tweaking this image a bit, had some troubles with the flats so it is still not totaling convincing on some smooth details..



Fantastic Mike! can't wait to see the colors added. I love the way you preserved the dust lane details in the galaxy core..

Are you aware of any catalog reporting these shell galaxies? I am only aware of ARP ,but nothing specific on this very peculiar family..
