Hi all,

First real try at capturing the milky way on stable tripod. 8 seconds, f4 at 2500 ISO

I've had a play with Mac Aperture to get as much out as possible but not sure what else to try

Hi Mighty,

It was the Canon EF 20mm f/2.8. It was an 8 Sec exposure. The Mark II is a good light gathering camera.

you should get more than 8 sec from a 20mm f2.8 - try 30 sec & see what you get, i have found stticking to ISO in binary gives slightly improves results..eg 800,1600 - rathe than weird in-betweens like 1000

Thanks Dan, will give it a go. Just posting first moon shot. Was not really prepared as it was the first night in the backyard with all the gear. Was only viewing and thought i'd slip the camera in for a shot or two. It's a start.
