Hey everyone,
I have finally completed a project I have been working towards for some time. to complete this picture I had to first obtain all the equipment which has taken effort alone.

Featured is a composite image of the Sun
Red being Hydrogen Alpha Light from a Coronando PST
Blue being from a Lunt Calcium Telescope
Both images obtained using a DMK-41 Camera.

I hope you all enjoy this image as much as I've enjoyed the challenge of obtaining it.

Interesting combination Trent. It takes a bit to get used to seeing the Ha and CaK together like that... I don't know why... narrow band seems to work for DSOs - less "unusual" or something...

Yeah, I think you know what I mean...

Actually, have you tried putting the CaK in the green channel instead of the blue?:shrug: I know the CaK is actually blue, but I'm just wondering if its the purple colour that makes it seems strange... put the CaK in the green channel will result in a more yellow image rather than purple.

I'm not sure if its a simple "psychological" effect like that or if it the different detail in the two layers contrasting rather than complementing each other.:shrug:

But I do appreciate the idea!:thumbsup:

That's a cool shot. The bicolor process really enhances the various features. I had my first look through a solar filter on my ED80 this arvo and I recognised those spots straight away. :) Was all excited so I called SWMBO who said "yeah... what I'm looking at? Why is it all orange. Your scope is dirty. There are two bugs on the lens..." :shrug: Can't win. :P

I think the last blending achieved that 3D effect....
