Found some Helix data I hadn't stacked so thought I'd post it up while it's Helix mania. This looks to be from July 2010. My glasses fell apart last week-end and I'm using a pair from about 10years ago so I'm hoping this looks ok :D 2 weeks to get a new pair :(

Anyone know why it will only upload an 82K thumbnail?
There's a bigger one here. (http://starshed.net/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=53&fullsize=1)

Always good to find some long lost data

Plenty of exposure to work with there Robin, try and remove the gradient and perhaps some selective sharpening (?) and it should look pretty good.

Nice find

Nice one Robin, I wish I could find some good data I haven't yet processed. The weather here is not terribly condusive to capturing some new data at the moment. Just gone through another weekend of flooding rain with all the local streams in full flood.\
Great detail in this image.

Very nice image Robin showing the outer loop well. All the best.

One of the best so far. Its a hard object to image being so dim.

As Mike mentioned the bottom 1/3rd background is greenish from light pollution - you have light pollution to the east?

GradientX Terminator would handle that.

I see that gradient this morning, I'll look into it although it's a real pain using the PC while wearing driving glasses. It's really hard to read anything or see any detail :(

It's been wet up here too doug. Even though it was clear last night for the first time in a long time, all my gear has been packed up since the last trip away early in september :(

Got my new specs, threw out the few early subs that showed the lights of Brisbane and hopefully fixed it.

Here (http://starshed.net/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=56&fullsize=1)is a big version.

At small size it looks ok, just a colour shift to green-orange in the neb but the large version show's a lot of processing artifacts Robin. What filters did you run over the neb? Do you see the same sort of artifacts in the original version at large size?

No, so I uploaded it again and it looks cleaner now.

That looks very good Robin. I can see a bit of pattern noise (horizontal lines) in the top 1/3rd but then my monitor is very harsh on backgrounds.

Were these dark subtracted? I would have thought the darks would remove that pattern noise.

Its a minor thing and possibly not that visible on other monitors. Fabulous round stars, your tracking is good.

Not sure, but that gallery software won't let you replace an image, you have to add the new one and delete the old one, what a pain ..

Greg, I think that was first light for the em-200. It's fully calibrated but the camera went back faulty not long after this and I haven't used it since it was returned :(

Hi Louie, Lots of exposures, dark site must equal a decent result surely. And don't call me shirly :(

I remember going to bed on this shoot and telling the ascom driver for the mount to turn it off at 5 am :)

Not only a good Helix but also a nice collection of background Galaxies

Yes Ken, there is one to the right of the star at the top of the object that I had not seen in my earlier images of helix. Probably due to better tracking on this one?

[edit]
No it is there on the earlier version, not as obvious and it's unside down, but it is there (http://starshed.net/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=1&fullsize=1).
