Pleades Hyades Rigel and Good old Jupiter:)
Just standing there under the stars was great after so much cloud and rain:D
I hope this is a sign of things to come for the rest of the week:prey:
Pretty soggy under foot but was worth it just to see the night sky again:thumbsup:

So apparently all I have to do is drive a couple of hours out of Brissy to get some clear skies ...  Was no such luck here I'm afraid. Oh how I'm looking forward to seeing the Hyades cluster (I haven't seen it before).
I'm glad you took advantage of the break in the weather there Ron.

You're not wrong Suzy - have been watching the rain clouds drift by on the BOM radar. Been a while since there's been so much moisture blowing right across the country for sure. If forecasts can be believed, everyone in SE Qld should be in for 2 good nights this weekend.

Hope you all get some good viewing in.....:astron:
I'm really looking forward to Orion season this year!

 Oh Paul! Ron's thread was dated the 12th . I didn't have to recall too hard for the weather that day when I bumped this post back up - I know it was cloudy or raining that night, because it always is. What I would give to even just spend 30mins with binos *deep sigh*.

Rob - are you serious? Fine this weekend? Let me check Foxtel weather ..
Ok, Saturday super windy (bad hair day for me, note to self don't leave house) and Sunday and Monday fine. :sunny: Then back to cloudy. And by the way, what is it with those Foxtel weather girls  They all wear really tight tops and skirts, sheez!

Yes Suzy, its an interesting phenomenom how the ladies decide if its a good or bad day according to hair
My wife has bought one of those GHB hair straightener thingies, and will often spend ages straightening out the curls in her long hair (which I try to tell her I like the way they are). Why is it girls with straight hair want curls and vica versa - everyone comments when the weather makes it go curly (nice comments...!)

I must confess didn't check the wind forecast as its rarely an issue for us. Looking now its going to die down for tonight as the Low moves away. Yay!

(I was living in fear Paul's next few pics in the Deep Sky forum were going to be Canis Majoris....:D)

It's unbelievable - its' been clear Sat, Sun, Mon and this morning the skies look clear too. Wonder what tonight will bring. I didn't have my scope out Sat (as there was a blizzard) instead, I ran in and out the whole night re learning the sky as it's been so long. Sunday I did the same thing again, tho this time with binoculars (it was still quite cool from the cold snap we're having). The seeing on Sunday was terrible - i could easily see the sky was mud with my naked eye and it wasn't until around 1 am when Orion got some height that the seeing improved noticably. Last night however (Mon) when I got the scope out, the seeing was very poor. Jupiter was jumping around like a ball and the stars wouldn't focus. The Pleiades's cluster (naked eye) saw them all jumping up and down. There was also a lot of dew. Can't complain though, it was great to be able to see the stars after so long. :)

:lol: I'm with you Rob, I think pretty curls is so much nicer than straightened hair; but fashion "dictates" the rules I guess at the end of the day. Less people are straightening their hair now (daughter included) which is nice to see. :)
