I saw this on Astromart.

It is the smaller focuser version of Mike's scope it would appear:

If you wanted to use it with an STL11 or bigger you'd need to swap over the focuser to the 4 inch greasless one and get the field flattener.
That should be readily available. It may need an adapter for the new focuser to fit??

looks like one of the pre EDT starfires that were phased out around 1990. 152mm F9.

I was glad when my order for a 127 Starfire was upgraded to a 130EDT at the time. A significant upgrade, and I understand improved clour correction.

The replacement for the 152mm was the 155 F9 EDT. I would buy one of these tomorrow if one came available.

Oh, so its not the same. Mike's is F8/1200mm FL like a Tak FS152.

F9 is good for visual but not so great for imaging.

Not quite mine but would be a great scope

Mine is one of only two units made by Roland before he changed the glass supplier and redesigned it into the long running 155EDFS. I would judge my scope as basically...... priceless..

Hi Mike,

Do you know which glass supplier he was using?

Was it the NASA glass you hear about in some earlier AP scopes?

Can't remember, all I know is that it is very similar to the 155 ie oil spaced with FPL53 centre element..?

Mike

Who knows Fahim, stranger things have happened ;)

The basic specs are: 152mm F7.5 oil spaced triplet with FPL53 centre element, 4" Field flattener covers 90mm (?) image circle and extends focal length to about 1300mm (F8.2)

The new 12" Astrograph on its way has big shoes to fill :help:

Ah that makes sense. 1300mm fl. Your images often seemed to have a bit more image scale than I expected for 1200mm fl.

Yeh it puzzled me for a long time why my CCD fields were smaller than what my planetarium programs suggested, I could never quite fit in what I thought I should be able too...then it dawned on me and Roland confirmed my suspicions :P :screwy:
