Hey guys, want a totally frustrating experience!?? Try venus at 6PM!

Close to being the impossible task, but I got it. :)

Took me 30 mins to locate it without sending myself blind accidentally using the finder on the refractor.(sun) Be careful if your going to attempt it!;)

Had to lose the extension tube & barlow to spot it on the laptop. I got 2000 frames with 240 stacked. This will come out heaps better by hand-stacking at a later date..

Hmm, living dangerously eh John. Last time I tried this was soon after the transit of Venus but I had the safety net of a GoTo 'scope to find her. Great capture none the less.

Cheers

Dennis

it is really funny, ever since it dawned on me what you were doing ie tracking down venus in daylight, each day i look up and silently tip me hat to you. that is a needle in a haystack and you keep nailing it

well done!

Thanks guys.

I just could'nt help myself :mad2: & just finished hand-stacking venus. I'll post it shortly. Also got mars which I'll post after processing. (depending on how it comes out, crook seeing)

I was thinking the word 'goto' as I was looking thru the finder Dennis. :)

Congrats on finding Venus.
She's got a real anorexic look about her though.

Heres the 'hand-stacked' version. 35 frames, lol!

Yeah she's getting very thin, it's actually a lot thinner than shown in these pics.

Thanks.

At least one advantage(?) of her being blacked out and in a thin crescent, She's closer and bigger! :P

Not that it helps capture her any better! :o

Yeah, It's actually harder to capture her now mate, a lot harder! I fear this is my last shot of her! I guess I'll catch her on the other side of the sun though. :)

you've done well here Asi, especially given how close it is to the sun (and how low in the muck). I had a look while I was up in Bundy at the cresent, but it was such a shimmery rainbowy mush I didn't bother imaging it...

Thanks Rob.

I think it's too dangerous for me to try again without goto....what a bummer!

BTW the only hope of getting it now is in broad day light, waste of time trying for it if you allow it to get too low.

I'm blind in one eye & can't see outa the other from years of welding so stuff it! I may try for one more! (I just thought of a back-yard 'technique' for accomplishing this....:nerd: )

"just one more"............asi-dorks famous last words! :confuse2:
