Yep, we've had our share of rain. The ONLY access to town, the Kilcoy Bridge is well and truly under. When I took the photos they were still allowing 4wd's to cross, but the SES were discussing the situation while i was there, and the road was about to be closed completely.
Local schools are closed and my boys are firmly ensconced in front of the television and the wii.
And the rain is still falling.

Nice photos jjj.
Hope you have a good pair of gumboots at the ready. Be safe!!
Wow, seems to be neverending rain down there. We are having masses of cloud, but minimal rain.
Hope the boys have plenty to watch on the telly.
take care.

Since posting the images, we've had constant heavy rain. The flooding is much worse. All the low areas in town are under water. More rain on the way.

took another drive around town, serious flooding now. Many many people are stranded in town. Cars, trucks and caravans are parked every where.
Yowie Park, the Footy fields and the grazing land behind it, flooded all the way to Somerset.

When I drove up to Yarraman/Blackbutt on the weekend we had to go through creeks upto 400mm deep. We where a little worried we would get back to Roma. But it was nothing compared to what you guys have had in the last 24 hours or so. Keep safe everyone.

way to much water there jj
very sad to see so much rain at this traditionally dry time of year.
The stone fruit crop should be kicking in but its barely started
The macca trees flowering for next year should be well advanced
but many petals are falling to the ground unpollinated .
looking at the rainfall records for the year with the 400mm or so over
over the last week or two,, we must be up around the 2 metre mark
or very close to it.

Stay safe jjj.
You Queenslanders love that rain.
Keep dry.
Cheers Kev.

G'day Ron, JJJ. Tipped out 150mm so far today and more coming. The back creek is running so fast cattle can't cross it.
It'll take forever to dry out but boy, what a start to summer - the official wet season.
We've had about 6 months rain in 6 weeks here - and that is during our "normal" dry season.
Even the kangaroos are complaining.

Photo's taken this afternoon.
People are driving around town rubbernecking. Sometimes singly, sometimes in convoy.
LOL Can't complain, I was doing the same.

Thanks for posting jjj. Hope you are staying dry!
Thankfully it looks like clearing at the moment. Absolutely phenomenal amount of water coming down the Stanley River at the moment into Brisbanes main dams which are currently at well over 100% capacity.

Thanks JJJ we should be OK but I keep remembering about earlier this year.
Are you safe and still sane after the Wii broke?

We banged the Wii a few times, shook it upside down, and it's working again for now.
Sanity prevails.
Though the mother has a moderate case of cabin fever.

I remember when I lived in Kingaroy only a few years ago and Wivenhoe was only around 15%. The country was dry and where I used to work, they were shutting down the generators at Tarong due to lack of water.
Well well look at it now. I know that bridge well as I used to travel at least 2 to 3 times a week across it in Kilcoy. I'm assuming Wivenhoe is fast approaching 100%?
Take care jjj and send some of that rain over to WA for us please - we really need it.:)
Darrin...
Hope you're going ok there JJJ and Adrian.:)

Drove down to check out the bridge again this morning. Just in time to watch the Channel 10 helicopter land on the school oval.
Gossip has it that the bridge has shifted and there'll be no traffic going over it until the water has gone down completely (water is still flowing over top) and the engineers can assess the situation.
People had set up their tents on the nature strips, all the hotels and motels were full last night, and emergency accommodation was set up at the Memorial Hall.
The schools are virtually deserted, pointless sending your kids when there's only a couple of teachers there to baby sit.
It's raining again.....but I did enjoy the few patches of sunshine we had this morning.
My kids are grinning, no school for a few more days at least.
Just watched it on Ch 10 - was looking out of you jjj. :)
lots of water for sure, and having to copter in medical supplies, I hope you have plenty of food to last.

The bridge is open now Liz, they're letting vehicles through one at a time atm.
Lucky, my son Jack has a dental appointment tomorrow, wouldn't have wanted him to miss that. LOL
I would secretly wish for a cyclone to miss a dentist appointment. :help:
Glad to hear the bridge is open though. :)
:lol::lol: lol Liz ;)
As long as ya have plenty of ciggies and alcohol u should be right JJJ
Nice pics :)
