Hi All,

Out last night doing the usual Deep Sky stuff, trying for a better Helix nebula.

Anyway, stacked a couple of images to see how things were going, had a nice streak, which generally means that I've captured a minor planet.

My copy of The Sky crashes whenever I load the MPCORB.DAT database, so I'd like some help identifying this one.

A (or in fact many) fits file is available on request for platesolving.

Video of the frames being posted to YouTube, will add the URL when it's finished.

Cheers
Stuart

Well, I had a check for you - it is in fact Planet X, on course for its rendesvous here in a couple of years - great capture! You'll have to alert NASA of course - possibly an APOD??

Have some data here of Helix from Friday night to early Saturday morning.
I did notice some streaks across the eye of the plan neb.
Will check it out later when I get home.

There is a 500,000 limit on asteriods for TheSky older versions. The latest update fixes the problem.

Beat me to it by "that much" Jeff.

There are several other minors nearby, including:

2002 CA291
2006 WG189
2005 GD11
103692 2000 CJ72
21791 Mattweegman
105836 2000 SJ152

Is that a Sky6 or SkyX update?

I just found it in my images from Fri night/Sat morning.

I overlayed your data with mine, and red circled where it was in my data.

Very cool. :)

Both. I know the Sky6 latest update works. I beleive in some of the older builds of SkyX there was also a limit, again this is fixed with an update.
