View Full Version here: : moon pics on a budget
ok, yas really want something to  at?
taken sometime when there was no clouds (such a long time ago, i know!)
the camera used is one of these:
http://img.shopping.com/cctool/PrdImg/images/pr/177X150/00/00/02/4a/d8/150232.JPG
the lens was taken out and pics were quick snaps taken prime focus.... I had to cut a hole in the bottom of a film canister and sticky tape it to the cam to make an adapter to fit in the focuser. I played with brightness/contrast minimally, unsharp mask a bit and a little smoothing....
BTW this it the max resolution the cam will do :P
Good onya Ving!
Nice to see ya post a few happy snaps:)
I'd hazard a guess you're resisting the call to get fully into the imaging caper?
Not ready just yet to fully lose your mind and your $$$$

I had a friend who got one of these cameras, not bad little things, although lacking in resolution it certainly shows you don't need to be a thousandaire to do astrophotography.

Video recording, no sound. You would get significantly less noise in your avi without sound.
When using a Toucam, do you disable sound when you mod it?

I have also done the exact same thing with the same webcam..dont use it anymore as I now have a TouCam..available for nothing if anyone wants it ..only small problem is the supplied cable is a bit short so you may need to buy a USB extender-which is $4 in Woolies this week
Sensor surface may need a clean, since I havent used for months -usually a Qtip dipped in isopropyl alchol does the job
worked well for lunar imaging

Ving, I'm impressed, these are really quite sharp and clear - even moreso considering then sticky tape support etc
