Hi,

I recently purchased from http://stores.ebay.com.au/Ozplaza-Shop an "el-cheapo" weather station. Excellent service with quick delivery, unit arriving in 2 days. I set it up to test and discovered that the anenometer would not read. An email to OzPlaza brought a quick reply apologizing for the problem and offering post-paid return to them for assessment, replacement or refund.

In the mean time, after reporting the problem in the long-running IIS post on the subject, I received a tip from Geoff (GTB-an_Owl) suggesting I should check the pins in the socket. Sure enough these were bent and I was able to straighten them and the unit now works perfectly. I notified OzPlaza of my success and received by return email:

"Dear customer, We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. Would you like to consider a $10 partial refund as compensation?"

Now isn't that just fantastic!
Thank you OzPlaza shop.

Robert

Hi Rob,

what a great story - they gladden the heart don't they.

But how about this to top yours. A while ago I spent the afternoon talking to Telstra (bigpond), (coz they know I have nothing else to do, so they try to make sure I'm not left on my own with no-one to talk to - ain't that nice :) - warm fuzzy feeling - hey).

My issue was that my 12GB of plan usage just seemed to be going into thin air all of a sudden. Even overnight with no equipment on, my usage figure was more in the morning by half a gig than it had been last thing at night. So clearly my 12gb limit just wasn't going to cut it any more.

Well, this telstra guy wasn't about to waste his time fathoming out how my gigs were going down the drain. Nope. Instead, he launched straight into the latest "deal" they had going at the moment which would save me heaps. "I'm listening, I'm listening", I said. So the deal was explained. I'd get 25gb which would be more than enough to see half a gig a day disappear down the chute and still have a bit left to actually use. Ooooh - this is sounding good I thought. And the best part - this plan was on special at just $49 a month instead of the usual $79 - but only if I signed up now for two years.

Well, we couldn't resist. And now I get to talk to them every bill for several hours getting passed from accounts to tech services and back to accounts and so on, for hours on end while they try and find someone who can explain why I'm getting billed for the full $79 instead of the promised $49.

Now how many companies arrange their quality of service so as to give customers so many chances to call in and get to know them so well.

Let's hear it for Telstra :party2:

Paul, do you want the bad news now?

1. Notice the deal you got was not advertised. It was only after you made a complaint that it was offered.

We had the same thing. We had a bandwidth problem so we contacted Telstra.
It was then that they offered us the deal with more bandwidth and at a cheaper rate than we were already on.
Nice of them to leave people on the 'Small Bandwidth Expensive Deal' until they query their service.

2. "get 25gb which would be more than enough on special at just $49 a month instead of the usual $79"

It's not actually on 'Special'. So they have tricked you again.

3. "get 25gb which would be more than enough on special at just $49 a month instead of the usual $79"

You need to yell louder at Telstra!
The deal they gave us is 50gb for the reduced fee of $49 a month AND we were bumped up to ADSL2+ faster speed.

And as I said above, this deal is NOT advertised!
You only get it offered to you if you complain!

And it is not a 'Special' as it is actually offered on the Telstra site if you know where to look for it. Having it on their site (even though it isn't obvious) means no-one can complain that they don't have the deal publicly listed 'somewhere'.

Have a good day

Hey Robert, nice story

Yes, well now you know that the big T has good deals on as well - you can sign up and put your weather site on line Rob :D

Think I'll stick with the big O. Been there for many years and have always been well served. 30GB Internet + 2 x mobile phones + home phone costs me less than $110 per month.
