moon sickle this morning

I took a few shots of the moon at about 1% waning crescent this morning
Hand held cause I didnt have time to set up the tripod ( I was at work and getting close to finishing my shift.)
iso 200, f5.6, 1/15s.
just a little levels adjustment.

Wish I had time.....

PS question: why does the size of this photo in explorer say 204kb and now posted it says 58.5kb?

Wow. This is the thinnest moon I,ve ever seen. What time was it taken? It could be a record oldest moon ever captured.

It was hard to see visually, but once I spotted it, thought about it for a few secs- thinking I wont be quick enough or the camera hand held wont take the shot- but did it anyway.
I'm wondering if someone could get more detail out of it from the original pic?

That is a great result for hand-held! Nice work. I also had a quick look at about 5:10am, with the idea of capturing an image or 2, but couldn't find the Moon due to thin cloud.



I think the max size allowed is 200 kb, and images larger than this are resized during the uploading process.

Thanks Stephen!, now that I know it might be a rare pic I am all the more happier.

Still a little baffled about the picture size. The second pic comes up as 100 kb ( in explorer) and shows up as ~100 kb in the post. I used Picasa this time.
And if pics are over 200 kb and are reduced ...then why do I see some posts ( including some of my own..) at more than 200 kb in the preview section?
