Anything but Jupiter

A lot of attention placed on imaging Jupiter of late...isn't anyone trying their hand at imaging Venus. Too hard? Too Boring?

It is true that Jupiter is getting a lot of attention and rightly so.
This opposition has been a favorable one, the best since 1963. At nearly 50 arc sec's apparent dia it allows finer detail and strucure to be resolved than ever before by amateurs.

Jupiter is moving further north over the next several years and will not attain the alt above our horizon that it currently does, this makes it imperative to record data at every opportunity while it is still so favorably placed.

It is also a good learning curve with plenty of colour for us newbies.

And don't forget the asteroids impact and the now missing SEB. This are things that obviously make it more interesting to observe.

Eagerly waiting to give it a go..just waiting for the Baader FFC and Astrodon UVenus Filter.

My apologies to those who thought I was having a go at the multitude of Jupiter images..I wasn't. I was just airing a thought that came to mind whilst I was driving home on Sunday..I saw Venus in the Western sky and looked over at Jupiter rising in the Eastern sky both being at virtually the same elevation and I wondered if anyone was paying much attention to Venus.
