Hi,

I have been unsucessfully trying to get venus so i am showing the results. I realised last night that Venus sets over the top of the Kwinana refineries and consequently must be getting smoke stack turbulence.

I noticed the images i am getting are the same as my previous attempt yet I turned to Jupiter which I will post later and got better seeing than the last time. I will try venus another day when it is not so turbulent. I only hope that it remains visble for the next time.

Was considering scaling down to hide the atmospheric imperfections :D. BTW I tried numerous stacks to get rid of them as well.

Interesting image but not much detail Venus - not been too good this time round, what filter did you use, can see stacking lines too on crescent. Dying to have a go but been cloudy for over 2 weeks and Venus is getting thinner by the day. Thunder outside for me today!!!

Nice job Malcolm, despite the crook seeing. May I suggest a 'just before sundown' run.

I suppose the benefits are obvious to you. The higher the object, the better the local seeing. No shooting through low alt. murk, heat waves etc!

The hardest part is finding it in broad daylight without GOTO. Make sure the Laptop & scope are in the shade if you can.

Good luck!
