Received my Astronomik RGB filters about a week ago & it cleared up partially this morning for a quick test. I don't really know what I'm doing as yet, apart from what I've read around the net, but I'll get there.
Decided to only go with the 2X barlow to keep it all within the 'KISS' principle first time out. Pretty ordinary seeing, although I did whip this image with the DBK @ 3X.

Well it looks close to my DFK color images, the DBK seems to be also a great camera, just thinking about the hassle with RGB.
I'm confused..

Don't forget Freddy there were mistakes made on this one, being my first.
1 - I didn't refocus between filters.
2 - Not enough image scale.
3 - Not enough image scale for my old eyes to RGB align on detail, so I aligned on 2 limbs instead.
4 - Poor seeing at the time.

Creditable result John, I was imaging very close to the same time, but in good seeing.
John, was this with the DBK or DMK, I see that you say it was the DBK @ 3x but just above the image you have C11/DMK?
Reckon you will love the DMK, I am sure you will sort it out.

Nice one John, reckon you'll have no trouble getting a handle with RGB and look forward to the results.

Sorry for the confusion Trev. The image posted above was definitely done with the DMK, & as mentioned to Freddy, I beat the image earlier in the night with a colour one shot DBK (3X barlow) run that I'll post just to confuse you even more:eyepop::lol:;)

Very good result, you'll get to grips with RGB in no time and think of all that extra red resolution.

Looks like a promising start for your new DMK John. I'm still at the "training wheel" stage with my DBK having done planetary imaging for just under 2 months. I hope to reach your DMK level by the time Jupiter reaches 70 degrees altitude here in the USA during the month of December 2012 (we're currently viewing Jupiter at 48 degrees max :().

Hi Pete, & thanks. Actually it's not new. I've had the camera for 3 years I think. I've only just been able to find the money for the filters last week. I've had the wheel (manual) for close to one year.
Yes, 48 degrees is not overly good, however it won't be so bad in good seeing.
All the best!
And thank you John from Brisbane:thumbsup: Yes getting a handle on it, thanks.

Thanks Malcolm. I think the RGB mono's are pretty seeing dependant. I think I'll only get mine out on those special occasions (7/10+) & leave the rest to the COS DBK.
