Spent a little time today getting used to my new camera, a Canon 550d.
Both taken using my Tamron 90mm macro, cropped and resized and compressed in cs3.
Waiting for a sunny morning and a clear night to give it a real work out.

The Australian wilderness is waiting for you JJJ! Go to the next level! Nice shots - whats the bird species?

I have no idea what species it is, it just landed on the railing to rouse at my cat, then flew off. They're very common, I know that much.
I think its the blue faced honeyeater - I used to get them at my previous house.

Well done JJJ
Love the flower!
I'm a sucker for the bright neon bubblegum colors I admit.
I think a few people who know more about the topic than I , say that sometimes less harsh lighting such as that from slightly cloudy days, dusk, dawn etc can actually produce better images.
keep up the good work
cheers

Nice shots Nettie! Definately a blue-faced honeyeater in the first one. Enjoy the new camera!
Cheers,
Stephen
