Latitude problem

this really isn't so much of a problem as my scope centres pretty much any object l go to it's just a little annoying, my latitude is -37.88 but the hand controller will not let me enter anything over -37.59, any ideas from the LX owners out there.

Havent look for a while but I suspect you may need to enter as degrees and minutes hence the limit of 59.

.88 = 52.8 52m 5s (I think)

Ditto regarding the hh.mm format. try -37.53 (37 degrees 53 minutes)

Hi Mick

I think that what the guys are saying is that what appears to be a "decimal" value following the 37 is not actually a decimal value, but is in fact the value in minutes from 00 to 59 minutes.

So, if you are at -37.88 in decimal, then 0.88 x 1 deg is the same as 0.88 x 60 mins = 52.8 minutes.

Therefore, decimal -37.88 is -37deg 52.8 mins.

Mick, I don't think you can put 52.8 in hence rounding up to 53 minutes.

Mick the LX200 are set in Degrees Minutes and seconds. Your lat is in metric. If you convert from metric to DMS you will get the above figure. Thats why you can only enter up to .59, thats 59 minutes. The next minute will change the degree by one and will be 00' 00".
