My laptop is doing crazy stuff

I didn't download anything to cause this, so I don't know why it has started.

A few days ago I noticed a large Highlighter Pen logo up top in my browser.
I have no idea how it got there.
Then I noticed there are a lot of words underlined with a yellow line on everything I open!
Even in these posts.

Whenever I accidentally mouse over a word that is underlined a giant Wikipedia window opens with information about the underlined word :mad2:

Also, since yesterday it takes up to 30 seconds for my lappy to do anything. Whatever I click on takes up to 30 seconds to do.

Today I have had enough of this annoying crap so I googled 'Remove Wikipedia Highlighter' but could not find anything about it. :shrug:

After shutting the search page I notice that the Highlighter logo has dissappeared but it still opens a wiki window on the underlined words!

Then I noticed my whole browser looks diferent :question:

The normal Firefox highlighter logo has also vanished, and the Google Search text box is gone too.
No, I didn't close them, I checked.

The only thing I have done different today is run AVG virus check and it came out clear.

Anyone able to help me please.

Ken,

If you right-click up the top near the menu bar or tab bar, it'll come up with a little menu which shows your add-ons.

What have you got in there?

Also, go to Tools > Add-on and ensure there's nothing dodgy in there. If ithere is, disable it.

I did as you suggested.

Pic 1: I don't know what I am supposed to be looking for but here it is.

Pic 2. clicked on Tools. Ahhhhh, the nuisance culprit! I have clicked on it to 'Disable' then 'Uninstall'.

I will now restart and see how it goes.

It worked.
The yellow lines are gone, all my Google stuff is back and the lappy is back to lightning fast!

Firefox is typically easy to fix. : )
