White faced Herron with chicks

not great shots but i got them by climbing on my roof, propping up the 20Da attached to the ZS80 on the very peak of the roof angle using a small tripod.

Focus a bit off i think but what can you do? I need better lenses
Anybody got a winning lotto ticket I could borrow? ;):lol:

We're very please that these Herrons have decided to make a next in the tree right in front of the house and keep coming back year after year.

I sometimes fear a bit with the miners harassing them but the Herron is a BIG bird so can probably deal with it

YOU are right Frank, they are quite used to Humans and their actions, I have seen them on the Median Strip on the Bruce Highway , with Vehicles zooming along in both directions and they don't seem to take a blind bit of notice,just feeding happily away.
It must be a great pleasure watching the family grow up and leave the nest:) then see it happen again the next year:thumbsup:

I suppose the REAL interesting sight would be someone watching ME, perched up on the roof of the house, precariously wedged against a chimney, calling out to the bird making weird Herron-esque noises....
(I could see it listening and twisting its head a bit like a dog does). I was doing this in the hope it would stand up and reveal the chickies.

And it did...

Certainly wasn't nervous about a human trying to talk to it...then again who knows what I was actually saying in "Herron"...

Where's a Babel fish when you need one?!

Frank I also prefer number 2 with the chicks being more visible. Would probably crop out some of the top right area if you have the pixals to play with. Very appealing results - well done.
