I'm actually pretty stoked with this image! On the 3rd. I took 2 quick AVIs...One was a dead loss....or so I thought (clouds were obscuring jupiter 50% of the shoot) and the other turned out ok.

I decided to stich both AVIs together & bang it thru registax just to see what I'd get.

Here's the result.

For any newbies out there, take my advise & stich your supposedly worthless AVIs together with virtualdub or bink & smacker & wack it thru registax anyway! You just never know what your going to get! :)

It's not Anthony (Bird) quality of course, but it's got a lot more detail than the original I posted on the 3rd that's for sure! (which I will post here again for comparison sake)

Nice AsiJohn. 1st one looks 3D!!

I am still to find out what VirtualDub and Bink&Smacker are, and about stitching. Next camp I am going to have so many questions!!!!

Great stuff Asi, a lot more detail on this one. It's always a pleasant surprise to see you wring a bit extra from your avis.:)

Thanks guys. Yeah, I really have to milk 'em Rob because I can't transfer my AVIs from the laptop to anywhere except the recycle bin eventually...no burner/external drive or memory stick as yet. Can't keep them on the laptop for very long for obvious reasons either.

Asi

That's great! And to think you were ready to give up on those avis:P

I've only recently downloaded virtualdub and haven't tried stitching avis together. You've got me very curious after seeing that dramatic improvement in your image.

That's really well done, mate, given we're such a long way from opposition and it's current position.

I reckon it's a crappy image personally! But I just wanted to show you the inprovement that I got & how.

As Bird says, it's all about experimenting & learning.

BTW I took that image into neatimage & had to run it thru twice (noise subtraction & sharpening) to force the detail out.

That's what I meant, Asi ... it's great from a before and after perspective.

Notwithstanding all the things you had to do to bring the detail out, I'd be happy with it considering the improvement:)
