Clever. The approach could be the future concept for holographic TVs. That is if they can get an iPAD to fly across the room and back at 60Hz ;) Maybe a peed off customer trying to get parts to fix his iPOD touch could do that.

Very ingenious. The applications (no pun intended) of these new technologies seem to go in directions you'd never expect sometimes.

Clever stop frame animation. Interesting to see what creative minds can do.

Thanks for finding that Humayun. I wonder if they intend to release the application for general consumption. I'd love to have a go and experiment with it!

one of my old puters (8 yo) died finally....no amount of bashing it could restore life into its circuits...(they are not easy to bend out of shape but it CAN be done with enough frustration...)
will need to get a new one soon too, now that I'm calm again...

Yes, I wonder whether it was wise for Apple to move the iOS 4.2 release to after the Macbook Air announcement. To me it's almost a no-brainer (iPad vs 11" MBA).

I'm curious - what do you mean by "no brainer" Steffen? It probably still depends entirely on what you want it to do... there are things that I use an iPad for that I'd never want to do on a notebook.. The new Air is very nice though - if I needed a laptop I'd have one in an instant. I'm certainly looking forward to Lion in any case.

I used to think that, too, but the 11" MBA changed that. It is just as easy to carry around as the iPad, has the required case sort of built-in (you can just fold it shut and it's protected, no need for awkward 3rd party cases), is much more powerful and can run software that's not possible on the iPad (incl Windows or VMware). It also seems more practical to use in a lot of situations - you can set it down and work or watch comfortably, the iPad needs to be propped up or hand-held all the time. Take for example reading while lying on the couch: much easier with the MBA, you just set it down, adjust the display angle and off you go. The iPad needs to held or leaned against something. Finally, you can keep the darn display clean by not touching it.
The only reason I said "almost a no-brainer" is its much shorter battery life (I'd really love 10 hours) and its higher price. I would have also preferred an anti-glare display like on my MBP, but that's just me.
I guess we're in total agreement though, it depends on what one wants to do with it. I'm sure many people find the iPad more attractive and better suited to their needs.
Cheers
Steffen.

Absolutely. I have both too, and the iPad gets far more use day to day for both work and play. I guess that I've modified my requirements over the past few months - to the point where I don't think I need the laptop anymore. Not that I'll be moving it on either, mind you.

I got my wife an iPad for our wedding anniversary (it's a myth that women like jewellery :P ) and she's also got an iPhone 4 and a 17" MBP. She rarely uses the laptop now, but I also observed that after a couple of months owning the iPad she reaches for the iPhone more and more often to play games, check emails, eBay etc. Maybe the iPad is just a tad too heavy or unwieldy for her, I don't know. I'll keep observing for a few more weeks and then ask her opinion on the matter.
Cheers
Steffen.
