The Blue Tree

I have always thought M45 looked like a blue tree when it is oriented this way. I have wanted to image it again for a few years now, but the weather always shuts me down. I was able to get enough data using the L:OSC technique. Oh, and as for the saturation, no one will ever accuse me of washed out colors, LOL!!!

High impact image Tom. Amazing depth and clarity in the blue clouds.
High saturation - perhaps too much for my taste but I don't mind it.
I like all the red Ha background as well.

Are you leaning over into the Hallas camp now? Is this like a political switch?

Tony seems to get away with striking colors and "pushed to the limit" sharpening. He is Tony Hallas though.

Am I trying to be like Tony? No. I'm just pushing myself in different directions trying to get the most out of my data.

This is an awesome image Tom, the problem is that you do so many top notch images that it is like trying to pick faults in a super model when you compare them all, sure can be done but they are all still supermodels no matter how picky you try and be :)

I was at work on my crappy high contrast 17" screen for my first look Tom and it looked great but I've just had another look on my much better 22" screen at home and MAN it's a sensational version of this famous subject, right up there with the best ever I'd say! If my Orion AG12 operates this well I will be very happy...my hands are pretty good but yours are brilliant, so we will see, some big shoes you have :thumbsup:

I've never seen them quite like that - definitely a "Davis" original - fantastic detail in the faint wispy nebulae and dust. As usual, didn't know there WAS that much dust in the field.

Hi Tom

I have been away with work for 3 weeks so just catching up.

I have shy'd away from OSC cameras to date, being quite uncertain about them, but this image is testament as to what can be achieved. I think it is superb.
