Hi, I am relatively new to ccd astrophotography, and recently purchased the meade DSI-II Imager. As part of my purchase came a instructional video on how to DSI. However the video outlining Envisage only discribes the old Magic Eye Focuser process, which is much easier to understand than the Current 3D Magic Eye Focuser now part of Envisage Imager Capture Software.

Can anyone instruct me how to use the Magic Eye Focuser in Envisage V7.09, as focusing my telescope for Astrophotography need some assistance or guidances. I have a meade LT-6 scope which is my primary scope. I also have the Meade DS 2130ATS scope.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

hey mate,

I have absolutely no idea how to use the meade envisage software, and to be honest i never found it much chop at all.

As for focusing a Batinoff mask would be your best bet and a program like Nebulosity from Craig Stark.

Hope that helps a weeeee bit

Hi Trevor

I tend not to worry too much with the magic eye focuser.

My method is to use a Bhartinov mask with Envisage and focus in on a 2 or 3 mag star. Setting the exposure rate at 1 or 2 seconds will produce nice spikes for focussing.

I have found Envisage to be an effective imaging tool but prefer to use Maxim for processing and Star Atlas Pro for guiding.

Cheers
