Hi folks!

I've had my LX90LNT since May '05 and it's worked perfectly up until tonight.

The RA motor only works on and off. I've also had one "Motor Failure" message. I've run it from the mains with the power pack so it's not flat batteries.

I was wondering if this was common and there was an easy fix? Or will I have to send it away which will cost a fortune?

I recalibrated the motors a couple of times which sometimes worked, sometimes didn't. Loose wire?

Sometimes when I hit the manual control it just acts dead. However, the motor when it chooses to work sounds fine but doesn't work consistently at all! :confuse2:

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

G,day

If the problem is intermittent it could be a loose wire or dry solder joint.

Your still in the warranty period so resist the temptation to look inside , get onto the dealer that sold you the scope and email them the symptoms as a record and telephone them too. It might be a loose connection somewhere but go through the channels first , get it right the first time so there's no more surprises down the road.

PS: Have you tried resetting the scope? no recent firmware upgrade?

I'm with Stuart, it's under warranty, get back to the supplier and if you necessary send it back for repair. Does sound like a loose wire or dry joint though. If the supplier suggests you look at it yourself, Jan's LX90 site has lots of info on dismantling (including the base) and repair of LX90's. http://m1.aol.com/kewtasheck/

Thanks all. It turns out that it was a loose wire on the Autostar controller cable. It's definitely severely frayed.

Thanks again!

Interesting, this same problem has occurred to gadget with his Lx90 8" several time. Must try and inform him.
