Hi,

My partner and I are planning a week in the country - and the telescope is invited too! :P .....

At the moment we're making a few inquiries, but it seems things are starting to get booked out....the dates we're thinking of are Sept 30 to October 6, bang in the middle of school holidays...

Does anyone know of anywhere that might be suitable? Main things we are looking for -
- within a reasonable distance of Sydney (maybe 6 hours max)
- dark skies and a quiet, peaceful neighbourhood
- basic cooking and toilet facilities, mains power

Any suggestions much appreciated!

Stephen

We've stayed at Starline Alpaca Farm at Broke in the Hunter Valley a few times. Only 2 - 2.5 hours out of Sydney, nice dark skies (well for a Sydneysider!) where you can visually see the dark lanes along the Milky Way. It does get cold, but hey.
They have a number of cottages, we always get 'Lucy's Cottage' to get away from the main row where families with kids stay.

Cheers,
