Wind turbine science project

Hi guys,

My friend and i want to make a wind turbine for our science project.
The design that we want to go with is the 3 bladed one with a single phase alternator.

In which there is a cylindrical magnet which has north and south on the curved side with 2 coppper coils on either side.

I have searched around for a magnet like this (attached) on australian sites and i cannot find one.this one is from england and shipping costs heaps.So do any of you guys know where we can buy one here in Australia.It is 20mm by 20mm with a 6mm hole in it.

Maybe i can just stack the rings to get the height i want.

Word of warning. If you intend using neodymium (rare earth) magnets be very careful. These magnets are much more powerful than ferrite magnets. It's easy to crush fingers when stacking rings.

orestis , what are u going to make the blades out of? 3 blades does seem to work the best when i have made models..take the time to get there shape exactly the same on each one

I was thinking making it out of wood.I have seen pvc pipe blades aswell.
not sure which way i'll go.

how do you make your ones?

How big do you want the blades it to be ?
This would help to determine the materials ..
