taken over three weekends using a Proline 39000M camera mounted to a 6x7 format pentax 300mm f/4 EDIF lens

all subexposures were 15 minutes and there were a total of 146 of them for a total of 36.5 hours

I took 88 exposures of 15 minutes of sulfur, 22 hours total in sulfur

the Halpha was 3 hours, the rest was oxygen

I've been at this for a while so I am going to call it finished and move on to something else next weekend.

notice in the full resolution version that there is a smattering of PNe in the upper part of the image and a few elsewhere

also at the bottom center right above the edge is a Supernova Remnant, LBN576

Ah huh! It's the big ear nebula :)

bit of patience required there Richard, well done.

I gathered about the same amount of data for my deep Helix last year but only used 27hrs worth of it due clouds, seeing, planes, satellites, tracking issues, wind etc...it's a long haul with a portable set-up :scared:.

I've been there and done that Mike. It is painful to gather even a quarter of that amount of data using a portable rig that must be set up and torn down for each session.

That's part of why we bought the ranch in the Sierra.

Here's a photo of the systems taken on monday morning just around sunrise. I had just covered them up for the night and then decided to take a snap from my Iphone. Next week I may shoot a photo of them unshrouded so that it will not appear that I am having a KKK rally in my front yard

146 raw image files (each is 78MB)

15 x 3 flats

15 darks

15 flat darks

total of 17.238 GB of raw "field" data to process

using 32 bit FIT for processing:

88 [SII] images for stacking were 13.336 GB of data. Took the Quadcore about 1.5 hours to register and median combine that stack

total disk space occupied was about 55GB counting all the calibrated frames and stacks etc.
