Inverse square law - aarrgghh!!

My 11 year old son is doing a school project on the inverse square law.

I have attempted to demonstrate how this works with a camera and my lightbox. but no matter how I try to play with different distances and camera settings, Maxim just won't play ball and give me the right result.

I am sure I am doing something dumb - doubtless there is a uniform stretch that I need to turn off.

Any suggestions? Of course the project is due tomorrow!

Ah yes ! the joy's of parenthood. I just spent all weekend doing kids school projects.My 10yo daughter came home on Friday and said "WE" have to make a parliament house model by Monday.:help:

I found a light meter and fudged it from there.

Poor kid went to bed at 10.30. It wasn't enough to do the experiment and write up the results - he had to prepare a speech complete with a Powerpoint presentation including video of him doing it. Whatever happened to cardboard and a few textas?
