Giant CMOS Sensor

Just saw this article on dpreview regarding a giant CMOS sensor developed by Canon:

The sensor measures 203 x 205mm, or nearly a foot across the diagonal! Wonder if Canon are planning to make available a range of sensors for industrial/scientific use.
