Well I thought I had seen it all, but the temp in my "observatory" got to 55deg C, and that was with the roof "cocked" to allow the heat to dissipate. We have just had our hottest Dec day since 1939, I think it was 43degC ambient a couple of towns managed 48degC, it looks as though we are in for a very hot summer. Needless to say I removed the scope and all EP's to a cooler part of my home. I have to do something about this heat in regard to insulation.

Holy Moly, and I grizzle when it is around the mid to high 20's.
Good luck.
Roll on winter I say.

WOW, thats a mighty temp. It reached 56 in my shed while I was out there working on the Alt gearing on the scope. The observatory was a balmy 32c inside thats just with white paint on the outside.. Felt like an airconditioned room when compared to the shed. Was aquite a warm one, at least now the temps are back to a normal level and working in comfort can be achieved.

55 degrees C. Just a little warm. I can remember when it was........
Yep time for some insulation mate.
BTW I love the hot weather. Scopes might not, but I like it better than winter.

It was 44 here yesterday in Melbourne as well. Then the clouds rolled in and it was only about 32 at 3am. I keep saying I should move to tassie...
Look after that Takahashi Exfso!

The Tak is in my bedroom with the newly aquired ED80. I put all my eyepieces in an esky, minus the ice, to insulate them from the heat.

gbeal wrote.. I'm with you Gary, can't stand the hot weather. Outside on a cold day you can always put on some warm clothes but you can only take so much off. 20 degrees here in Lonny at the moment and light rain. Rather pleasant weather to do nothing and good for the lawn and garden. Odd, because when southern Oz gets hot weather we're usually only a degree or two behind. It's been that sort of summer down here, very unseasonal and unpredictable. I don't really mind, its nice to be forced to relax and take it easy, but some nice clear nights would be a bonus. I will spare a thought for you north islanders in that unbearable heat.

41c outside at present and blowing a gale. I don't like it when it's this windy with this sort of heat. It always seems to bring out the pyro maniacs.

WOW never heard of doing that before, is this to stop them heating up and causing their own little tube currents? or to preserve them for a longer life.? Or none of the above and I am completely on the wrong track.
