8 inch Celestron manual please

Is there anyone who can help me with obtaining information about refurbishing this telescope. A friend gave it to me and it is in desperate need of restoration. I have reasonably good mechanical ability and the logistics are within my grasp, but I have no experience with telescopes. I feel there must be something on line but my computer skills are not up to the task. Thanks.

Tony, you didn't say what mount configuration the C8 is on, but the following link will take you to Company Seven web-site notes page. From there you can download the original Celestron C8 and Celestar C8 manuals - http://www.company7.com/library/celestron/notes.html

Also here is the Celestron site with the later C8 mounts/otas, you may need to go to their 'download archives' forn the older C8's.

Cloudy Nights have an article on dismantling and servicing a C8. Can't remember the link at present but a search on cloudy nightts should turn iit up:thumbsup:
