Amazing you can take 10 minute images with any kind of light polution even with the filter.

Do you find 2 x 10minute images is better then 4 x 5 in suburbia.

Very nice Scotty.

Nice work Scott, and Paul

This is my next target, I tried a couple of nights ago, but it was a wasted effort. I must have bumped something and all but 2 of my subframes were way out of focus. How are you guys finding the noise level in this heat?

Cheers

Thanks all.
I havent tried 4 x 5 mins yet, guess Im a bit lazy and its quicker stacking less images, Im not sure how readout noise comes into play, though I should try shorter shots with more of them and see what happens.
Yes Im getting more noise, the originals very speckly with big amp glow on the right side. Dark subtraction with IRIS helps, can also do it manually with Photoshop, though to avoid coloured spots I use Levels to cut back the blue and green channels of the dark frame, basically only subtracting the red channel. I stretch levels to try and bring out the object from the sky background. Noiseware software cleans up residual noise reasonably well.
