I would like to say a big thank you to Shane (the astroguy) for his most excellent service. I ordered a WO FLT98 CF a few weeks ago with the intent of taking it on a school camp this week. As usual customs held things up and things were looking pretty uncertain as to whether I would get the scope before I left. I emailed Shane on Friday night and said if the scope is not here by tuesday I will have to redo a heap of activities I had planned for the camp. Shane responded immeadiately by offering to drive to the camp site and personally deliver the scope if it wasn't here on time. He also offered to bring his 14" dob as well to help out with the kids. Today he went down to the airport and ripped my scope from the clutches of the customs/fedex folks to save another days wait and delivered to my front door this evening. Now thats what I call service.

The scope, it's the most beutiful thing I have seen in a long time, top class finish. It is much bigger then I envisaged (Not even the 17mm ethos managed to dwarf the scope) and that objective is something to look at. To say I am over the moon would be an under statement. Cant wait to hook the camera up but will need to machine a mount for the ZS66 first. As you can guess the clouds rolled in as I was opening the box, oh well patience is a virtue so they say.

APO triplet. Very nice!
What's the advantage of the carbon fibre ... lighter, more insulating (slow dew formation)?

Regards, Rob.

Rob the carbon is both light and stable which means less focus shift over the evening. It's also very nice to look at ;):P:D.

That's exactly the great level of service I got when I bought my WO refractor from theastroguy a few months back, and one I'm happy to tell everyone I come into contact with. I'm keen to hear how you go with the scope.

cheers
