Interesting ... & thanks for the 'heads up'.

I'm not a real fan of Michio Kaku, although he is strong on the 'visionary' side of things. He's a good presenter (especially for a US audience).

I'm more of a Brian Greene fan. Somehow, I think he conveys more depth (in his books) than Kaku. Perhaps they're aiming at different market segments..

Interesting program, although showing concern that some people on the program seem excited about "Machines" becoming "Man" and visa versa. I suppose with global warning whether natural or man made we may need to become robots to live through it.

After seeing the program although interesting not sure I like Michio Kaku way of presenting.

Good second episode. (I preferred the first one, though).

DNA and genetic testing: Seems to me to be a Pandora's box. Just because we may possess a disease causing gene doesn't mean that the disease will happen in that individual. Its more complex than that so ... why undergo a test in the first place? He says to 'experience' the social implications of it. I'm not sure that experience does anything other than support the cause of more research funding (politics here).

Thought provoking, although as I have mentioned about Kaku, a little shallow for my liking. I think he's a product of good 'ol Americana viewing audiences !

Covers the breadth Ok. But the depth ?

The only thing is I think if they can identify that faulty gene they are on the way to correcting it as well and that is something to look foward too :thumbsup:

Yep I guess so. The kid certainly appeared to have benefitted from gene therapy ... which was great to see. That WAS tremendous.

Did you see how thin the nano-tube 'ribbony' bit of the elevator was ??
There's faith required to use that thing (no matter how rational one's mind is!)

These shows are all very well but a bit pie in the sky. I remember space elevators being discused as the next big event back in the early 80's and if you believed the Popular Machanics mag. back in the 70's then we should all be going to work in personal flying cars if not working from home. And all sorts of wonderful other stuff which never occurs. Great for sales and viewing but not often reality. LOL.
