Here are two more offerings from Duckadang,

NGC 6357 - The Lobster Nebula

I seem to have only paid for the head of this lobster, whereas Mike paid for the tail as well...

Taken with my usual setup - 15 x 450sec subs on a modded 350D.

NGC 2070 - Tarantula Nebula

This is my first combination image - 450 and 30 sec subs. I also took some 120sec subs, but chickened out at including them too. The image quality is terrible - focus is off and the imaging was done through fog at about 3am. Nonetheless, I'm quite happy with the detail in the core and periphery. I also should have taken the focal reducer out of the system and target this smaller object with a longer focal length.

I'm pretty pleased with the Lobster, but the Tarantula at full resolution is a bit of a train-wreck.

Good couple David, in particular the crab is nicely done. The Tarantula nebula lacks a bit of saturation imho but it's a very pleasant view overall!

Top shots David - looks like the old FS is performing well. :thumbsup: Looking good. THe NGC2070 region is dusty and cluttered, and it's difficult to operate in, so you've done very nicely.

And no Chris - you can't have your old scope back! It's very nice to use. Focuses easily and doesn't seem to drift in focus too much with changes in temp.

David The Tarantula Nebula looks a bit Pink to me and the clusters of stars just don't look right:question:, but otherwise two nice images.
Number two is very sharp:thumbsup:

I won't disagree with you Ron. I will say that it looks worse on an uncalibrated monitor. My Win7 laptop is very slow to load the calibration profile and it reverts to it's default setting when you try to run a slideshow...

I'll post an example of the Tarantula with a straight 450sec exposure and then my combined effort with the 30sec subbbed into the core. As I mentioned earlier, the only reason I posted this image was to show how I'd managed to do an image with multiple exposures - it's definitely not a poolroom shot.
